William A. Arlofski

Chief Technology Officer William (Bill) Arlofski founded Reverse Polarity LLC with the goal of providing his clients with less expensive, more reliable and more secure network servers and systems. His solution? |
LINUX and Open-Source software!
Back in 1999 Linux was still considered a "fringe" operating system by many, and just a fad by others, but by this time Bill had already been using Linux for more than five years to provide web, email, file sharing, and firewall services so he KNEW he was on the right track. Open-source software, and especially the Linux Operating System were to become the foundation for the core technology solutions that Reverse Polarity LLC would be providing.
During a 4,000 user Novell Groupwise rollout project for the City of Hartford, CT, Bill was subsequently contracted to implement and deploy an open-source Linux firewall and Squid web-caching proxy server to manage and monitor the City's Internet security and bandwidth.
While working as the Unix Systems Administrator for The Hotchkiss School (a private boarding school in Northwestern CT) - managing several Unix, Linux, and Novell servers - Bill became familiar with the boarding school culture, the tight technology department budgets, and the high expectations for reliable technology solutions. Not surprisingly, here again Linux and other open-source software programs were a perfect fit. Meeting all the technical and cost requirements as they were inexpensive (often free), and highly reliable.
These days, when he is not mountain biking in New England, Colorado or Utah, Bill continues his passion and helps schools and businesses, deploy and support Linux and other open-source solutions.
